The Transporter Refueled review

Polly recently watched ‘The Transporter Refueled’ which is directed Camille Delamarre. The star cast includes Anatole Taubman, Ed Skrein, Gabriella Wright, Lenn Kudrjawizki, Loan Chabanol, Radivoje Bukvic, Ray Stevenson, Tatiana Pajkovic. Polly found the movie not so good nor so bad. The film is a sleekly presented gangster film which has revenge, romance and father-son bonding.

Talking about the plot Polly said that, Frank Martin (Ed Skrein) gets involved into a scheme by four prostitutes who want to set up their vicious pimp (Radivoje Bukvic) as a way to escape from their sexual slavery. And this Mr. Transporter goes turns into a would-be hero. The four young ladies of the movie encourage Frank to help them by kidnapping his ex-spy father (Ray Stevenson) and that’s the biggest nightmare for the father-son. Basically ‘The Transporter Refueled’ offers a new spin on an older franchise of The Transporter.

This is a story about a male hero who basically takes over the rescue mission as the would-be heroines find themselves unable to accomplish much beyond their initial shenanigans. This film is filled with random shots of naked/semi-naked gyrating women for the pleasure of their male cohorts, as well as a climax that completely undermines said womens’ agency and climaxes with the male hero racing to the rescue by land and by sea as the main female is held hostage at gunpoint by a fleeing villain. This film will give a feel of ‘Women Empowerment’ and is a nightmare of what everyone fears Wonder Woman will be.

Polly also felt that Also, there is inconsistency in terms of characterization and tone of the narration of the movie. The ladies shuttle from being strong, cold and calculating assassins to helpless seductresses randomly which totally confuses the audience about their exact character sketching.

Whereas Ed Skrein, as Frank Jr in this edition, does not match his predecessor, Jason Statham’s charisma. But you can feel his presence with his action sequences and limited dialogues. Ray Stevenson on the other hand feels more entertaining than his son (Ed Skrein).

Talking about the action sequences and picturization of the movie, it is remarkable because of all its stylised visuals, action scenes and great heart throbbing stunts. Overall, the film is a visually brilliant and action-packed!
